Eternal Springtime

A Columbia College School of Film and Television BFA student thesis film 2026.

In the post-apocalyptic future, a deadly pandemic has swarmed the planet, wiping out 95% of humanity. Little is left behind—only nature, desolate cityscapes, and Synthetics: humanoid robots designed for sex. Cast away in their deceased owner’s apartment, Generation 5 Synthetics, Kara and Holland, endlessly fulfill their programming. Together, their routine serves a function, and function is exactly what they’re intended to be: live machinery. That is until Michael, the last of humanity, comes banging at their door. As Michael grows a strange affection toward Kara, Kara begins experiencing internal sensations of her own when it comes to Michael’s most human attribute—playing the violin—which grows a divide between her function and her purpose. Eternal Springtime is a vivid, distressing look into the worst of man’s future and the contortion of women’s modern day.
